SICKLE CELL TEST

The Sickle Cell Test checks for sickle cell disease or sickle cell trait, a genetic blood disorder. It looks for abnormal hemoglobin (called Hemoglobin S) in red blood cells that can cause them to become sickle-shaped, leading to blocked blood flow, pain and organ damage. This test helps diagnose the condition early, especially in newborns or people with a family history of the disease.
